Welcome to the Baseball/Softball Program |
Welcome to the Tewksbury Township 2010 Baseball/Softball program. We hope you will enjoy your experience with our program and the benefits is has to offer. Our purpose is to provide the participants with the opportunity for skill development, practice and game participation, positive social interactions and fun. The leagues place the athlete first and winning a distant second.
The Tewksbury Little League is structured to offer a Baseball program for ages 5 to 12. The girl's softball program begins in 2nd grade and continues through 8th grade. The player's baseball/softball age is determined by the player's age on 4/30/2010.

Baseball/Softball Thank You's
Jun 18 2010
The Little League Board hopes everyone had a great time at our 8th annual Baseball/Softball Day. Congratulations to the Tewksbury Mets who bested the Tewksbury Yankees by a final score of 8-4. The Yankees managed to bounce back in the second game of the double header and defeat the Tewksbury Cardinals by a score of 8-4.
Congratulations to Mark Wood who received our 2010 Baseball/Softball Day Recognition Award. Mark has been the leader of the TAA for the past 4 years as President and has been extremely supportive of the Tewksbury Little League and all the sports programs in Tewksbury. For this we acknowledge Mark as our 2010 Award recipient.
There are many folks the league would like to thank for making the day come together so well. Without all the help the good memories would be fewer.
To start we would like all the public officials who joined us starting with Mayor Hoffman who was kind enough to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Many of the Tewksbury town council Members joined in the festivities including Mayor Hoffman, Dr. Bill Voyce, Ms. Dana Desiderio-Taub and Mr. Peter Melick. We also appreciate Freeholder Chairman Mr. William Mennen finding the time to judge the screaming contest, which was won by the Royal Tigers.
A big thank you to all the Boy Scouts who were there in force led by the adult leaders Carmen Natale, Ernie Symanski, Bob and Regina Kolodziej and Ann Fernicola. The scouts handled all the parking, unloading of the food, Dunk Tank and much of the management of the tent.
A special thank you to Tina Dornbusch for a wonderful performance in the National Anthem.
Thank you to our gourmet cooks Tony Glennon and Rob Edmund who cooked over 600 Hamburgers and Hot Dogs. I didn't hear of any complaints about burnt Hamburgers this year. Well done Men!
Thank you to all the tent volunteers including Chris Christ, Caitlin D'Armiento and Lori D'Armiento.
Thank you to Claudia Gilbert for all of her work making the programs come together so nicely.
Thank you to the First Aid squad members who were out an about keeping a watchful eye including Jeff Fenton, Sean Smith and Dr. Bill Voyce.
Thank you to Peter Melick and the Oldwick Fire Company for bringing the Pumper Trucks to cool the kids, allowing us to use the Ice at the Firehouse and for filling up the dunk tank.
Thank You to Melick Farms for the use of the property for parking and for allowing us to use the Ice at the farm stand.
Thank you to the volunteers who braved the cold dunk tank waters including Doug Schneider, Keith Snyder, Chris Urbanski, Jeff Fenton and Dana Desiderio-Taub.
Baseball/Softball Day, Equipment collection drive and Buy a Brick
May 16 2010
Greetings Little Leaguers,
We are fast approaching our annual Little League Baseball/Softball Day celebration. Next Saturday, May 22nd, will be the Tewksbury Little League's 8th annual Baseball/Softball Day. There will be plenty of activities for all to enjoy, and we hope you can join us at the Oldwick fields to support our Little Leaguers.
Pictures and games have been scheduled to try and make it most convenient for you to attend the celebration. The highlight of the day will be the traditional rivalry games between the Tewksbury Major league teams. The first game between the Tewksbury Mets, coached by Dave Wernicki, and the Tewksbury Yankees, coached by George Twill, will be at 1:00 at Oldwick on Field 1. Just prior to the game we will have the teams line up in the Field 1 outfield as we acknowledge and cheer each of our 27 teams and announce the Major League players. Mayor Hoffman will join us and throw out the ceremonial first pitch of the ballgame.
For those who love more baseball, we will have the second Majors' game immediately following the Yankees-Mets game. The second game will feature our third Tewksbury major team, the Tewksbury Cardinals, coached by Paul Githens, who will be facing the Tewksbury Yankees.
We also have many activities planned for the players. The Oldwick Fire company will be on hand to ensure our players remain cool by bringing the town's biggest sprinkler - the pumper trucks. Another kids' favorite, DJ Joe, will be on hand again this year to entertain the kids between activities. The league will also have a fundraiser with the dunk tank as it seems there are many out there who love to dunk our Little League board members and any brave chilly volunteers. The Scouts and First Aid squad members led by Chefs Tony Glennon and Paul Smith will again help out and cook up the hot dogs and hamburgers for the kids. Through our generous sponsors all little leaguers will be provided with a complimentary lunch.
Please take the time and thank your Tewksbury Little League sponsors who help us provide so much for the children.

This year we will also be having an old baseball equipment collection drive. Little League graduate Ben Kurzrock of Boy Scout Troop 199 will be coordinating the collection of the baseball equipment. The equipment can include baseball and softball-mitts, bats, helmets, gear, balls and cleats (tied together). This is a good way to benefit the less fortunate and also clean out the garage a little.
We will be kicking off the Buy-a-Brick fund drive to help cover the cost of building a patio behind the Oldwick Snack Shack and also to help pay for electricity in the building. Flyers will be available at the Snack Shack to show you how to put your family name in stone and mark your child or family's participation in the Tewksbury Little League. Click here for the link to the flyer - http://admincentral.sportsoffice.com/files/tewksbury/files/95410_TAA%20Brick%20Order%20FormR1.pdf
If you have not yet received your baseball day picture or game schedule please contact your coach as they are available.
We look forward to seeing you at the field and hope you can spend a few hours on Saturday enjoying the fun Baseball and Softball provide to your child here in Tewksbury.
Thanks,
